About the Initiative
Home Builders Institute’s careers campaign initiative can help YOU –
Make It Happen – with a career in residential construction. Make
It Happen is the central theme of the campaign enhanced by the
sub-themes – Make It Real, Make It Work, Make It Pay and Make It Yours.
The campaign provides a much needed gateway for Home Builder
Associations, NAHB members, educators, students, parents and other
interested parties to access the construction industry. We want –
middle and high school counselors telling students about the
opportunities in the residential construction industry! We want –
parents encouraging their children to pursue a career in the residential
construction industry!
Campaign print materials include a dynamic fast-paced video, a
colorful informative brochure and a movie style poster. The brochure
and poster are available in English and Spanish. HBI recognizes the
importance of “getting the word out” about industry career awareness and
exploration at all levels.
Why a campaign?
To help improve the industry’s image, to promote careers in the industry
and to encourage students and adults to consider home building as a
career option.
Who made it possible?
Home Builders Institute (HBI), the workforce development arm
of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has a 40-year
history in education and training in residential construction. Dedicated
to promoting the industry and its many career opportunities, HBI works
to provide the membership with an adequate supply of professional,
technical and skilled trades personnel — a workforce to build and
maintain our nation’s homes.
The National Housing Endowment (NHE),
is the philanthropic arm of the National Association of Home Builders.
In 1987, NAHB and a visionary group of leaders in the housing industry
created the National Housing Endowment to ‘build a foundation’ to help
make the American dream of homeownership a reality for present and
future generations.
Today, this vision is a reality. The
National Housing Endowment provides a permanent source of funds to
address long-term industry concerns at the national level
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is a
Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose mission is to enhance the
climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB’s goals
is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe,
decent and affordable housing. As “the voice of America’s housing
industry,” NAHB helps promote policies that will keep housing a national
priority.
Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and
local associations. About one-third of NAHB’s 235,000 members are home
builders and/or remodelers. The remaining members are associates working
in closely related fields within the housing industry, such as mortgage
finance and building products and services.
