Developing Industry/Education Partnerships
Use the Planning Guide and Workbook to establish a uniquely
designed program that enables students to gain career awareness and
academic enrichment. The design differs from many other
career/education programs because it is based on forming partnerships
between schools and professionals from the industry. These
partnerships provide students and educators an opportunity to interact
with industry professionals in the classroom and on the job site.
Like a well-constructed house, the pieces of the partnership
program fit together to provide an exciting and creative
school-to-career initiative by:
- Providing a vehicle for industry/educator relationships
- Offering schools reality-based learning models
- Communicating the availability of the wide range of career
opportunities (at all academic levels) in the industry to educators,
youth, and their parents
- Establishing an understanding of how the school applications and
industry come together
- Using academics that are an existing part of the school’s
curriculum to increase knowledge and stimulate interest in the
residential construction industry and related fields
- Supporting efforts to attract quality candidates for all levels of
industry occupations
